The Business Services Division (BSD) supports the individual and collective needs of the Penn community by promoting a hospitable, customer-friendly campus environment through the provision of mission-critical services and essential operations. BSD is currently focused on three major initiatives:
- Revenue growth/retention through improved marketing efforts, extended services, and development of new distribution channels.
- Driving productivity for the Division and its customers through the better use of technology.
- Enhancing service offerings through upgrades and expansions of facilities.

Vice President Marie D. Witt
Marie Witt is the Vice President for Business Services at the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Witt, an alumna of the University, joined Penn's staff as a personnel specialist in Human Resources in 1981 and moved to Business Services in 1985 as a communications analyst for the Telecommunications department.
In 1991 she was named Director of Support Services for the unit, overseeing Penn's Children Center, Class of 1923 Ice Rink, Penntrex (student telecommunication services), and the Computer Connection (Penn's computer retail distribution center).
In 1997, she was appointed to the position of Associate Vice President, gaining incremental responsibilities for the University Club and the Penn Bookstore, as well an expanded role in the division's human resource initiatives. In 2002 she added responsibility for Housing, Conference Services and Campus Dining to her portfolio. Ms. Witt also served as Interim Vice President of the division from 1998 to 1999.
